When I was in the rust belt shooting urban decay and the fall of American Industry, I worked on a series of telephones. All the different types of phones stamped a date on the closing of these plants. Each one was unique and told a story. This one was in one of the last buildings we shot in Chicago. The Chicago Steel and Wire company. To see some images that my brother Josh took of the same facility, check out www.ballmultimedia.com

Tractor Island
One intriguing aspect of macro-photography is how it reveals entirely new worlds, rich in color and texture, from sometimes overlooked places. This shot of a tractor suddenly becomes a vast landscape with islands of paint on reefs of lichen.
Shiny Distractions
A tiny cityscape emerges from the polished chrome of a Vespa scooter. Taken in 2007 on the 16th St. Mall, this photograph captures a quiet reflection of the architecture amidst the shiny distractions of the city.
Colfax from Lookout Mountain
From the top of Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO, the seemingly endless sprawl of the infamous Colfax Ave. illuminates the night. This photograph is part of a series that will be exhibited in Aurora later this year.

Comfort
This photo was taken during the Immigration rallies in Denver in 2008. What struck me about it is the innocence and naivete of children. This boy was witnessing history in the making but was only really interested in the comfort of his father and his thumb.
