Easy does it

Easy does it

Sometimes when my brother Joshua and I were exploring these abandoned buildings, we put our self in some dangerous situations. This complex was easy enough to access but it was filled with deep pits in very dark rooms. One of these pits actually had the skeleton of what appeared to be a dog. We theorized […]

Walleye Run

Walleye Run

Have you ever asked where to buy a fish finder? The Walleye Run in the Maumee River in Toledo, Oh is a big event each year. It’s so big, Toledo has named it’s professional hockey team, The Walleyes, who are actually in the playoffs right now. Each year the Walleye come up the Maumee river […]

Bike Parade

Bike Parade

These brave cyclists/artists ride in the Denver Gay Pride Parade in 2008. They creatively create these two story bikes that get them at least 10 off the ground. They were having a great ride that day. The parade paused right as they reached me and they began circling me over and over again. It made […]

Pride Parade

Pride Parade

As spring approaches I’m starting to think about all the things I love about the warm weather. Gardening, Hiking, and of course Pride always top my list. This image was taken at the 2008 Pride Parade on Colfax Ave. right across from the Capitol Building. This photo always brings a smile to my face.  They […]

Colorful Como

Colorful Como

Como, Colorado has to be one of the most “colorful” places to shoot in Colorado. The small town is filled with little visual treasures like this one. I always find something new when I go to Como!

Creative Process

Creative Process

Watching an artist create is always a fascinating process. Every artist approaches art and art making in unique ways. This photo of artist, Dean McCready was taken at an artist retreat in Conifer, Co.  Dean uses music as part of his creative process. He has specific music that he listens to that facilitates his creative […]

Movement

Movement

I love to use photography as a medium for capturing movement. This technique of multiple strobe flashes, I’ve used a lot. I shot this piece in the late 90’s when I was doing a lot of club photography. It was taken at the old Tracks in Denver.

When you’re falling, Dive

When you're falling, Dive

These photos were taken shortly before and immediately after my friend Sunny gave birth to her daughter Iris. I’m currently reading When you’re falling, Dive by Mark Matousek, which talks about how fear and pain can awaken us from a slumber of indifference and provoke extraordinary growth. I felt like childbirth is a perfect example […]

Equal Rights

Equal Rights

In the Summer of 2007, I was invited to show my DisClosure film and photography series at the San Francisco Sex Workers Art and Film Festival. During the week of the festival, sex workers from all over the country protested an ordinance that targeted them. They took to the streets and peacefully protested in their […]

Casa Bonita

Casa Bonita

This is the last photo of a series of photos chosen by friends using random numbers. This image was chosen, in part by my younger brother, Josh Ball with the # 360. Casa Bonita is a landmark in Denver. Every kid who grows up here has to go there at least once. The food is […]

Resolution

Resolution

This Photo was chosen, in part, by Dean McCready with the # 42 As we head into the new year, many of us will have resolutions of getting into shape.  I am personally sore from a P90x workout that we’ve been doing. This photo of runner 1054 was taken during the Colfax Marathon near the capitol […]

Immigration Rights

Comfort

Comfort

This photo was taken during the Immigration rallies in Denver in 2008. What struck me about it is the innocence and naivete of children. This boy was witnessing history in the making but was only really interested in the comfort of his father and his thumb.
